Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #27

Awwww! This is nominated for an Oscar this year. I haven't seen the others yet, but I think this is the winner. I'm so glad my boyfriend shared it with me today! :) Lovely! :)

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #26

Today's film is actually a trailer, but it looks awesome! I can't wait to see the full piece. I've never heard of hobo nickels before, and I'm excited to learn more. They sure LOOK fascinating!

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #25

This is a fun film by my friend Ralph that I haven't seen in a few years, so I thought I'd give it another watch and a shout out.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #24

This is nicely done poetry piece. I definitely enjoyed the interpretation...

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #23

I'm a bit behind. I'm hoping to catch up tonight though. I watched this one yesterday for the second time. I hope to watch the rest of the web series very soon. I can't wait to see where Homeless Roy goes next.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #22

I'm not sure what to think of this, but I like horror films with creepy objects appearing places, so what the heck...

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #21

I finally started season 2 of my boyfriend's web series, We Do Monsters. If you haven't watched any of it, though, start at the beginning not here:

But here...

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #20

Okay, this isn't really a film, but... it's hilarious and I saw it at a film screening, so ya know...

Enjoy!

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #18

I struggled to find a film late last night, and after several Vimeo links that weren't really films, or several that were too long for my sleepy 11 p.m. brain, I decided this one is worth sharing for it's sheer cinematographic achievement. Hello long follow. Well done!

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #17

I saw this a few years ago and completely forgot until I accidentally found it while looking to see what else Matty O'Connor has directed. Hes showed an awesome film at The Emerging Filmmakers Project last night, and I wanted to see more. So here's this that I saw a while back:

... and here's the trailer for that which I saw last night:

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #16

This a film by DIY Film Studios for the 100 hour film race. The way this was filmed as one continuous reflection shot is great. I think the special effects are pretty fabulous too. It's definitely a big effort for 100 hours.

Challenge 1: January #- A Short Fim a Day #15

Another interesting Vimeo find. It gets a bit silly near the end, but overall it's fun enough to watch. I mean, how could I resist something titled, "The Man Who Lived on His Bike."

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #14

I was just browsing reddit's ShortFilm reddit, and clicked on this one. "Very short piece about a man, his job, and ragtime music" appealed to me, I guess. I love the silhouette look, though I'm still not sure what this fellow's "job" is.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #13

Yesterday, I watchd a film by Jacque Abplanalp that I'd never seen. It was from a Mocksides Script. I thought it was really well executed and fun to watch. The actresses did a great job, and I was actually wanting to know what was going to happen next. Way to go Jacque and gang! :)

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #12

I'm fascinated with the idea of a 1-2 minute film, so I Googled "1 minute film." I found this site, and watched almost all of the entries, but... I can't say there's one that I really loved more or less than any other one. It's an interesting idea, though... I might pursue it someday.

I guess, as I think about adding at least one video to this entry, that this might be the one that stood out.Maybe...

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #11

Well, this was interesting. I honestly just searched for Colorado on Vimeo and found this recent short that features the lead actor from "Misplaced Magic." The cinematography sure is beautiful.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #10

I saw this film at the Starz Denver Film Festival several years ago, 2006 to be exact. I think of it often, but I couldn't remember the name of it, or even who was in it. For some reason I thought the female character was Jennifer Aniston, but I'm so happy to find that it's actually Judy Greer.

Unfortunately, the full piece isn't online. You can buy it on iTunes, though, and just as soon as I can, I probably will. Enjoy!!!

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #9

I chose to watch another random film from indietalk.com today. This one is pretty interesting.

The cinematography is probably my favorite part. I love the time lapses in the sky and trees around 9 minutes in, and the general look of the piece as well. It was a tricky concept, and I think they pulled it off considering.

I'm still not sure about the "waters echo" part with the Gollum voice either. Honestly, I would've gone without that. It was a strong enough piece sans the water voice. Maybe it's just that it sounded like Gollum though.

In any case, I think this film is definitely worth a watch!

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #8

I saw "The Music Box" a few months back at The Emerging Filmmakers Project in Denver and still think its great! Enjoy!!! The link won't embed, so you'll have to do it the old fashioned method.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #7

I finally watched Beth Graham's senior project movie! Nice job!!! The end was really creepy, but it probably creeped me out a little more since it was Ralph and Lee acting in it, and I know them. In any case, nice job. I really liked it! It was really interesting the way you shot and edited it! The cutting back and forth between both "characters" looking for something was so cool. I'm interested to hear reactions from people who didn't know the story beforehand. I'd been let in on the punchline, so I watched it differently from the get go. Then again, knowing that made me tune into details I may not have noticed on a first viewing, which was also cool.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #6

I've been meaning to watch this, because I've been hearing about it for a while. Kudos on the noir look and the awesome locations. This was a bold undertaking. I'm always impressed when people take on period pieces.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #5

This is the video I watched today. I found it randomly on Vimeo. I love pen and ink art, and animating fascinates me! This is just mesmerizing! I hope you enjoy it too.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #4

I saw this for the first time over a year ago, and was thinking about it again today. I like it just as much as the first time; the poem and the video. It speaks for itself, so I'll let it.

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film a Day #3

Today I watched a film by a friend of mine. I should've watched it right away. My goal in 2013 is to watch things right away. It also stars Cougar who was in my film "Dink" and is a rock star of a Colorado actor and filmmaker. Enjoy!!!! This is a gem! I laughed out loud in so many places!

Challenge 1: January - A Short Film A Day #2

Today I watched this:

...which led me to this:

Umm... These were randomly selected choices from indietalk.com and then YouTube's related videos column. I think that the stop motion on "The Scanner" was interesting and cool. I'm a little bit fascinated by stop motion, though. The Courier... erm... ? The robots were well made. I will say that.

Challenge 1 - January: A Short Film a Day #1

In 2013, I'm going to challenge myself. In the past I've done photo a day challenges and really enjoyed them. I've wanted to do other challenges like write a poem a day or do a sketch a day... I figured why not make 2013 the year of bettering my brain through these challenges, while at the same time putting them out there for you to enjoy.

In my spare time, I make films sometimes, and as a producer I make videos all the time. One of our greatest struggles as small producers, directors, etc. is getting the work out there. I've decided for the month of January to promote someone else's film every day. There are many I've seen that I'd like others to see, and there are many I just keep meaning to watch myself.

This is my first choice. It's by a Denver filmmaker, David Quakenbush. It's very hitchockian and funny, but I wouldn't watch it after you eat. Enjoy my first choice, Worm
